History of Lakeland's Swans

Today starts the annual swan round-up at Lakeland's Lake Morton. For our past 4 years here at LPV we have always enjoyed our trips to Lake Morton to see the wildlife and especially the swans. It wasn't until this morning that I realized the history behind Lakeland's swans. In 1957 Queen Elizabeth II gave 2 swans to Lakeland. Last year the round-up "netted" 65 swans for their annual physicals. If you visit the area you will see many statues in addition to the live beauties. Now we know why they are so significant.
