History of Lakeland's Swans

Today starts the annual swan round-up at Lakeland's Lake Morton. For our past 4 years here at LPV we have always enjoyed our trips to Lake Morton to see the wildlife and especially the swans. It wasn't until this morning that I realized the history behind Lakeland's swans. In 1957 Queen Elizabeth II gave 2 swans to Lakeland. Last year the round-up "netted" 65 swans for their annual physicals. If you visit the area you will see many statues in addition to the live beauties. Now we know why they are so significant. Here are a few shots from this spring.
